The Miami Unified School District #40 is located 80 miles east of Phoenix in southern Gila County and serves an area population of approximately 14,000 people. The community is surrounded by the Superstition, Pinal, and Apache Mountains. The Miami area offers year-round recreation such as fishing, hunting, horseback excursions and water sports. The beautiful scenery in the region features the impressive dams of Roosevelt and San Carlos Lakes. Salt River Canyon, the Pinal Mountains and Apache Trail offer unforgettable picturesque views. The historic Indian ruins of Besh-ba-gowah and Tonto National Monument are located nearby.
Miami residents enjoy the convenience of being centrally located and reasonably close to Flagstaff, Tucson and Phoenix. This allows for many advantages including cultural, athletic and educational opportunities. The Miami area is home to Eastern Arizona's Gila Pueblo College and is in the close proximity to numerous other institutions of higher education.
